Not exactly known for his tactful communication at the best of times, Salmon seemed to be approaching a Duke of Edinburgh level of bluntness …
Newark – Antiques & Collectors paradise

… to be fair, Trota’s mantelpiece is far from unfurnished, but this outburst (and the tense standoff that followed) felt like visiting the local pet rescue centre and, after some quite unnecessary haggling, choosing to walk away without the puppy.
But Trota’s a strong woman and she’ll get over it (or certainly get even). And despite Salmon, she enjoyed some wonderful browsing at Newark, which remains one of her favourite collectibles hangouts.

She started with the usual extensive collection of kitchenware…

This time she also spotted some beautiful vintage tins and metal posters.

Meanwhile, Salmon was shrewdly perusing the vintage tools, esoteric radio spares and miscellaneous mechanical paraphernalia. That’s right: no room for more porcelain chez Rowe, but always space for some extra drill bits, brackets and spanners ‘just in case’…)

In truth, the visit was most enjoyable and the next big event at Newark is this very Thursday and Friday, June 1–2, here are the details.
So if Trota’s favourite porcelain pooch is still looking for a home, there’s a real bargain to be had. Failing that, it’s a great opportunity for a nice day out, and new friends to be made…
Ah…and Fidget, haven’t we seen these two before?
